A Christian Orthodox minister in Australia was stabbed multiple times in front of his congregation before they reacted to pull the 15-year-old assailant off of him. The video played on the Internet and Elon Musk posted it to his X account.
The Australian government says it was “lone-wolf” religious terrorism and they gather this because of some “religious comments” the assailant said as he was stabbing the pastor. The Musk video doesn’t capture the comments and the Australian government refuses to educate the public with its content.
But what they will do is threaten Elon Musk with legal action to force him to pull the video down from his X account. Elon removed it from Australian X feeds, but has refused to remove it altogether.
It’s now a big to-do with the Prime Minister of Australia threatening an American citizen with being charged with an Australian felony and other commenters insisting they should be able to impose Australian law on American citizens inside the United States border. They say they’re upset about him posting violence.
WTF?
My Take On It
There are a lot of atrocities in this world that I’m not privy to and so can’t really have an opinion on. I can only base my thoughts on what other people tell me and I’ve come to the conclusion that government sources are almost always lying in an attempt to manipulate public sentiment. Therefore, I prefer to get my content unedited from the source — like the church webcam that caught this stabbing without censoring. I can immediately make some inferences from what I am able to see and what the pastor preached just moments before the stabbing.
Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was talking about Islam not being a religion of peace because true peace only comes from knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and God. (I might argue with his phraseology, but that is one of the three foundational beliefs in Christian). And then a dark young man walked up and stabbed him. Since this was a Syrian Orthodox church, I might have assumed he was a mentally-ill child of a parishioner but since the Australian government seems to be running cover for him, I surmise the attacker is Muslim. If this is not true, release the audio so we can know the stabber is a Catholic fulfilling the thousand-year feud between two of the three great branches of Christianity.
Oh, but we now know that at least five other teenagers were involved in this “lone-wolf” attack.
Wait! Doesn’t lone mean…solo? But five isn’t a lonely number…hmmm, maybe the government is lying to us…again.
Don’t Censor the Truth
In the days after October 7, 2023, the world got a good look at what Hamas did in Israel through unaltered video Hamas itself posted to the Internet because the terrorists are proud of their behavior. There are people who will claim Hamas wasn’t that brutal, especially in comparison to what Israelis have done to Palestinians, but for those of us who actually saw the video evidence, it’s hard to feel sympathy for people who kill babies, set grandmothers on fire, and rape young women until they bleed down the backside of their jeans. This is what we saw. If the Palestinians have video evidence that Israelis are, or have, treated them this badly, let them produce the evidence for a fair and balanced hearing. Since they aren’t producing that evidence, I can only assume it probably doesn’t exist.
Remember, Hamas posted these video clips themselves. Why would they want to make themselves look worse than they really are? That’s a rhetorical question.
Since the October 7 incidence, there has been video evidence presented of Ivy League college students harassing Jewish students as if they believe that 20-year-old Americans can do anything to influence the Israeli government. Some of that harassments has become quite violent and those video images are available to be viewed on the internet so that those of us who wish to be informed can be fully informed.
Flashback to 2009 when the “teaparty” (a loose affiliation of disparate groups that had the goal of stopped Barack Obama’s economic agenda that would, over the next eight years, hollow out the American middle-class) were accused of make racist comments to a black Congressman. Except there were more than a dozen cameras running on the event and no a single one caught the racist comment beng hurled. That doesn’t mean, 100%, that it didn’t happen. It does mean that it probably didn’t happen.
I selected these examples because they are indicative of incidents that people have opinions about but some people are woefully uninformed about these events because they choose not to look at the “violent” video that proves what actually happened.
Stop Censoring the Truth
Violence happens in this world. Knowing about it doesn’t make people more violent. It makes them more aware. It allows us to base our opinions on truth rather than lies. If that’s too much for the government of Australia to handle, then maybe its officials should stop lying to its citizens.
Australia’s E-Safety Regulator Julie Enman Grant spoke at Davos before the World Economic Forum this last year about how Australia is working internationally so they will have the ability to protect us all from the truth in the near-future. It’s called the Global Online Safety Network and it’ll be great. One thing to note about Ms. Grant is she’s an American who claims she was recruited by the CIA, but turned down the overture.
Oh, sure, she did!’
She worked for Microsoft for a while and now she’s in charge of Australia’s censorship scheme. She said at Davos that “nobody wants to see splinter regulations” that differ from country to country. Oh, no! We have to have an overarching one-size-fits-all network of liars to keep us all safe from the truth.
Fortunately, Michael Shellenberger here on Substack has been investigating it — throwing a spotlight on yet another attempt to take away individual freedom in the guise of protecting us from ourselves.
I don’t need to be protected! I have lived over a half-century running up against some ugly truths and I’m still a sane and moral person. I don’t need your help. Parents are available to protect their kids from ugly truths they aren’t mature enough to entertain and adults don’t need your protection.
Lela Markham is a novelist and commentator who doesn’t think we need to hide from the truth. Sensitive people can choose to hide their heads in the sand while those of us who care what’s happening in the world can know what’s going on in the world, because knowledge is power…oh, wait…is that why?
